Grilled Pizza Two ways! On this post we will give you the option of cooking a traditional pizza with crust, or a variation that doesn’t include flour.
Have you ever thought about making pizza on the stove? At Rena Ware, we love to do it! A good pizza is all about fresh, tasty ingredients. With those and our Classic Grill Pan (36 cm), the technique couldn’t be easier! Not only is it easy, but it’s awesome. Try it and you will see how successful you can be at grilling homemade pizza on the stove.
It really isn’t hard to make pizza now that you can buy pizza dough at the grocery store, and it’s very fun to top it according to your very own special tastes. It’s so nice to be the boss of your own pizza. No pineapple for you? Just skip it. More cheese? Load it on!
One of the secrets to grilling pizza is to have all of your toppings prepared ahead of time and handy. We made a pizza with a traditional crust and to mix things up a bit, we also did one with a base of eggplant.
If you have a little more time, you can prepare your own pizza dough following this recipe.
It’s very cool when you make or shape your own dough, but please, don’t try to throw the pizza dough in the air like they do in restaurants… That never ends well!
Pizza dough or eggplant slices
Fresh tomato, sliced
Fresh mozzarella cheese
Grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves
Salt and pepper
If using homemade dough, divide the dough in half, otherwise start with one bag of purchased dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface until the desired size is reached. Brush dough with olive oil and salt and pepper the lightly.
Preheat the Grill Pan on medium-high heat and spread the dough evenly on the bottom of the utensil, making sure to put the oiled side down. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for 6 minutes or until the dough is browned on the bottom. Brush the top with a little more oil so that both sides are oiled. Flip the crust to brown the other side.
In the meantime, heat the marinara sauce and spread a thin layer on top of the crust; top with tomato, mozzarella and Parmesan.
Place the Grill Pan in the oven and broil the pizza for approximately 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and has browned a little bit. Remove and place on a cutting board. Garnish with basil and serve hot. You can cut perfect slices with the help of the Pizza Cutter from our set of Chef’s Accessories.
For pizza without traditional crust, follow the same procedure as above. The only difference will be that the eggplant should be cooked a bit more than the traditional crust.
You can also add mushrooms, olives, artichokes, sausage, anchovies, etc. Remember that your creativity has no limits!
We assure you that this will be one of the best pizzas you have made at home, and you will want to make it again and again. 😉
